Hey you,

You Can't Make This Up

You Can't Make This Up

It was bedtime and the kids were upstairs brushing their teeth, when all of the sudden I hear “Daddy! Come look at what Anna did!” Not now, I thought. Not at the end of the day right before bed. But five year olds don’t wait for anything or anyone.

When I walk upstairs, this scene is waiting for me:

Anna had taken all of the toilet paper off the roll so she could use the roll to make a kite for school. You can’t make this stuff up. It reminded me of this book. Pretty genius, though, right? I wasn’t even angry, despite the fact that she had asked me if she could do this very thing hours before and I had told her no. If anything, I was more amazed than angry. Amazed that she had the spunk to do it anyway, not thinking about the consequences. The boys would never have even dared to try that at her age. She is fearless!

She did feel bad, though, and when I went into her room to talk to her, I found her under her covers. Poor thing. I hugged her tight and told her I wasn’t angry, but she can’t do it again. She promised she wouldn’t. We’ll see! This is an ongoing story and I will update it as new developments roll in.
