Bon Voyage!

My friends, we will be traveling through a few cities in Europe over the next week as we set sail with Celebrity Cruises!! We haven’t sailed with them in four years, which is hard for me to believe.

It’s weird, being back on The Edge, because it feels like no time has passed at all. Everything looks and smells and feels just as amazing and wonderful as it did when we last sailed with them in the summer of 2019, before our world changed forever (our kids came to live with us the week after we got back!).

It feels like a homecoming of sorts, and we can’t wait to explore parts of the world we’ve never been to before. We won’t be updating the blog for a week, but you can follow along on our adventures on Instagram and TikTok!!

Have a Restful Friday Night

Happy Friday, loves. What are you up to this weekend?

We’re all home today, since school is out for the next three Fridays in a row. Though, I think we’d be home from school anyway. Three out of five of us are sick, so we’ve all been lazily moping around the house all day, with the kids in bed watching TV in between bowls of chicken noodle soup.

PJ and I have been cleaning the entire house, spraying down every surface, washing every blanket, sweeping the floors, and folding approximately 2,349 articles of clothing. We’re trying to get the house (and the farm, and the kids, and the animals) ready for when we go out of town here soon. There’s always so much to do leading up to a trip, isn’t there?

I am writing this from our bed, where I can barely keep my eyes open. I took some medicine, so I am hoping that kicks in and helps me get over this little sickness. Being sick with kids might be the absolute worst feeling in the world. Nobody wins.

We’re ending the day cuddled up on the couch watching Sweet Tooth on Netflix. Have you ever seen it? It might just be the cutest, most wholesome show ever. Perfect for a lazy day like this.

Have a good weekend, friends!!

The Best Smelling Hand Soap in the World

We go through a lot of soap in our house, so we’ve become scent experts in a sense throughout the years, and we know which ones we like and which ones we don’t.

Our favorite soaps are always by Mrs. Meyers Clean Day (we have this one in the kids’ bathroom upstairs and this one in our kitchen), and the scent that pretty much everyone in our house loves, especially PJ, is Birchwood. It’s so good, y’all. It smells like the best kind of men’s cologne. It’s rich and musky and woodsy but sophisticated and delicious.

In fact, today PJ loves it so much that he asked me if they make it as a cologne, too, and a quick Google search a few minutes later led me to zero results, so I’m thinking they don’t. Womp womp.

But, we did just order the body wash and lotion!!!

Have an Amazing Friday Night!

Hello dear friends, what are you up to this weekend?

We are heading to Nashville with Matt and Beau tonight to go see Taylor Swift!! I can’t believe it’s already here. Matt bought the tickets back in November and it took two entire days of sitting at the computer refreshing the page before he was able to get in and grab any tickets he could. How wild is that? We’re so grateful for his determination, though, because Taylor Swift is my favorite artist of all time and I have never been more excited about a concert in my life.

We’re also excited because this will be an adults-only trip, meaning we’re dropping the kids off at my mom’s house and at PJ’s mom’s house to make it a little easier on each of them. We’ll only be gone one night, so it’s a nice little quick break for everyone.

Are you going tonight? Have you already been to the Eras Tour? We’re hoping the rain holds off as long as it can tonight (it’s calling for rain on and off all day and night in Nashville). The last time we saw her was on the Reputation Tour back in 2018 (the above photo), but that was in a covered stadium. Keep us in your thoughts with the rain tonight, okay?

Have a great night, loves, and maybe we’ll see you tonight at the concert!!!

DIY Project: How to Give a Vase Texture and Patina

I don’t think I will ever get over PJ and his DIY skills.

Remember how I mentioned he completed a couple of weekend projects a few days ago? One of them was taking a plain old ceramic vase and giving it some character by adding texture and patina with everyday household products like spackle. It took no time at all and now it sits in our guest room and looks so good against the green walls.

You can see how he made it in this one minute video, if you want!!
